Olde English’s TV Debut!
Believe it or not, I can remember when MTV still played music videos. It was 1994, I was thirteen years old, and only porn enthusiasts had heard of Jenny McCarthy–who, one glorious year later, would jiggle and giggle her way to fame on ‘Singled Out,’ a show (like The Real World) that would prove to MTV that they could attract a wider audience if they stopped supporting musicians and started supporting people from California talking about inane things. The rest is history.
Then came Fuse. Well, actually, then came MTV2–which popularized itself as the music-video-playing counterpart to then reality-tv-saturated MTV (“Watch the cast of Road Rules play tug-of-war on top of a hot air balloon against the cast of The Real World: St. Louis!”). But then, predictably, MTV2 also discovered that they’d attract more viewers with shows than music videos, so they too stopped playing music videos.
Then came Fuse–a channel committed to providing what the two MTV channels no longer provided: music videos! But then, apparently, Fuse also discovered the superior viewership of shows to music videos–and that’s the part where we come in!
Every Tuesday night at 11pm for the next few weeks, you’ll be able to see us on Munchies!–part of Fuse’s two-hour block of new shows, appropriately titled ‘Fuseday Tuesday.’
And while technically our first televised sketch (ever) will be shown this upcoming Tuesday at 11pm, I’m told that a couple frames of ‘Breaking News‘ made it into the Munchies premiere episode. So…technically we’ve sort of already made our television debut…and I missed it. I probably would have missed it anyway though, considering:
A. I don’t have a television,
B. I’ve never had access to Fuse,
C. At the time–like Dave and Adam–I was also a Long Island Iced teapot.
Watch us on Fuse this Tuesday at 11pm and tell us what you think!

You actually see two bits of Joel….one from gym class and a bigger bit of Breaking News. Looks awesome!

My DVR is already set to record it. Congrats guys!!!

Awesome! Can you burn that to a DVD? Can I pay you for a copy?
April 21st, 2006 at 1:18 pm
I have no idea how to do that, but if I figure it out, you can have one for free!! I’m searching through http://www.videohelp.com/ for instructions…unless you can tell me how?
April 21st, 2006 at 3:01 pm
I’m pretty sure I could do that for you (free as well) Ben so if Olive is having too much trouble I could try.
But I don’t like the pressure, so Olives I hope you figure it out!

Hey folks — don’t worry, we can PVR it ourselves!
Also, we should point out that the sketches being aired are all material you can view on the website. Which is not to say that you shouldn’t watch — if you don’t, you’ll never now how they managed to air “Hello? Fuck!” without pissing off a million grandmas.

Congratulations!
But before Fuse, it was called MuchMusicUSA and before that is was just MuchMusic, a simulcast of the Canadian music channel. Ed the Sock. Fucking awesome.
Also, by 1994 MTV was old and busted. Being in the same age group as your grandpa, I know MTV was in the beginning. My town got it the week it came out back in the 80s. No commercials. Just music videos. Martha Quinn. I need to take my old man medication now.

Way to go.

isn’t this the channel that you guys were asked to audition for? because those jokes were TERRIBLE.
April 22nd, 2006 at 10:17 am
Wow, no commercials? That’s crazy.
April 23rd, 2006 at 3:00 pm
Rob Corddry was on munchies.
April 29th, 2006 at 9:57 pm
Ok. So I thought “Munchies” was BULLSHIT! What idiot would actually change the channel on Gym Class? Seriously.
What was up with them calling it “Hawaii High” [or something similar to that]?? *grumble*
April 29th, 2006 at 10:20 pm
yeah, hawaii high was the name.
But you guys got the most emotion out of the stoners! They were having actual emotions other than stoned! (Okay, paranoia, but still…)

Annoyingly, they didn’t post the clips from this week’s show, so I still haven’t seen us.

Uhm, I’m a B. Don’t have fuse, have MTV, which is kind of a big let down to me now since they no longer have viva la bam and drop in. But, grats on the television debut(s) and I hope to maybe have fuse sometime in the future. If only for the reason of watching you guys on TV.
