And speaking of the Virgin Suicides…

Hey, bros and shmoes.

You might not believe it, but we actually put a lot of work into our sketches, trying out different things and tweaking scenes in editing to get the desired effect. A stray music cue can completely derail a sketch and sometimes a sly cutaway turns trash into something-slightly-better-than-trash.

I submit for your perusal an earlier version of last week’s butterfly sketch. It’s easy to see why we kept working on it. The pacing is off, the music is sad, the voiceover lacks character, the whole thing is JUST. NOT. FUNNY. Is the edit we ultimately posted any better? Well, that’s a matter of opinion, but at least it plays more like a sketch and less like an intro to a bad P.T. Anderson knock-off. Click on the image to watch the rough draft.

(Agreed there was need for a few changes, but the voice still could of been in use. All it needed was a little more arrogance. That way it could of sounded a bit like, one of the generic voices you hear in propaganda films or old new reels. Then again, i guess your right. If one thing is off then its all off…Anyhow it turned out to be a really funny sketch…Hopefully science randomly makes, a cruel joke out of eric(adam) again for our viewing pleasure soon!)-b(^_^)v-(…see you around…)

I like seeing these behind the scenes looks at sketches. Reminds me of the bloopers for Funny Face. Man, those were funny. And so is this sketch. One of my new favorites.

I liked the music for this one, it went with the slightly sadder narration better. But ya, it was pretty boring, the voiceover was way better in the other one.
