For the sake of argument…

If you’re the arguing type, there’s a great argument on the OE message board regarding whether or not we’re corporate whores for licensing “One Picture A Day” to Mountain Dew.

Well, actually, it starts out as an argument about whether or not we’re corporate whores, but then it evolves into a more highbrow argument about what defines art. And then, I kid you not, that already tangential sub-argument devolves into an another argument concerning the definition of the word “argument.” It sounds like I’m joking, but I’m not.

Oh, the Olde English message boards.

My favorite quote from the thread:
“I can’t believe this has turned into a debate about the definition of ‘argument.’ Oh right, yes I can.”

haha…that was I who started the definition of the word argument, argument…I feel kinda silly.

“arguing on the internet is like the special olympics… even if you win you’re still retarded.

Okay. What is more important, pretending that you have integrity by limiting your material to the internet or being intelligent and licensing your shit so you can properly capitalize off of your own hard work?

I haven’t been on the board in at least a month (I’m Fwching), but if people are shouting OE down for selling a clip to Mountain Dew (their name isn’t even attached to the ad, you tools!), people obviously don’t understand that talent often leads to success.

Uhhh so anyways, best wishes for the new year and I am faithfully waiting for the Big Announcement.

Well, keep in mind that no one is really criticizing us that harshly. One fan expressed some concerns, but on the second page of the thread said that upon further thought, he’s not actually that outraged. So no need to go around knocking down straw men just yet.

Shut up guys, you freakin love us.

  7. kevin Says:

but those straw men are menaces! when you guys get your big break, the same non-existant people who now say you sold out will be bashing you and saying you suck. i think it’s important to scold these people before they become an even larger mob of imaginary critics!

  8. Timmahh Says:

    hey…this isn’t a big anouncement.

  9. Anomalous Says:

I made my contribution. I sided with big business, claimed commercials can be an art form and called Shakespeare a sell-out. I regret nothing.

That thread, or rather that Jahlbert guy, really needs a shot of reality.
