These guys are exactly the sound I've been searching for since I started listening to electronic-type music. Not too harsh, not too boringly ambient - catchy and addictive.
Admittedly I was introduced to them through the Geico cavemen commercials...but any exposure is good exposure, amrite? |

Sounds promising, I might give them a listen. |

one day at my cousin's house, he said to me excitedly, "Kevin, guess what song I downloaded?!" and i replied, "the geico commercial song?" and he shouted :yeah!" and we both showed each other that it was nestled safely in our respective ipods. i have not heard any of their stuff other than "melody a.m." or whatever it's called. i'll look them up i guess. |

I just got The Understanding, their second album. Suffice to say, it's pretty different from Melody A.M. I'm reserving judgment.
Melody A.M. rocks, though. |

Melody A.M. (particularly track 2 "Eple") changed my life. The Understanding is pretty good too. I like listening to "Alpha Male" as loud as my speakers will play it. That song is a journey. Funny story, I play the first track from Melody AM, "So Easy", to wake up my downstairs neighbor or to alert him that I'm coming downstairs. The bass line is just so cool and easily recognizable. Anyways, Röyksopp definitely has my seal of approval. Glad you found them, PBD.
EDIT: Have you heard their live album, "Royksopp's Night Out"? It's pretty good. Nice rehashing of their stuff. In my experience, electronic live albums are either really sweet or completely useless because they don't do anything new or interesting. This falls into the former category. Check it out if you haven't. |

I'd heard of Royksopp's Night Out but I haven't gotten around to obtaining it. Thanks for the heads up.
And yeah, "Eple" is probably my favorite track from Melody A.M. and "Only This Moment" from Understanding. My biggest regret is that there aren't more albums. |

That's my biggest regret about a lot of bands. Like Chicago. They just don't have enough albums! Seriously though. The first time I listened to this album and got to "Remind Me" I flipped out a little because of the Geico commercial with the caveman on the moving sidewalk. My friend and I had talked about trying to find out what that song was for like half a year, maybe six months, but had never actually done the leg (read: finger) work. Then there it was. Minimusicgasm. |

In fact, that's how I found Royksopp: After seeing that commercial, I went to the Geico cavemen website, and they had a playlist of "party music" that included Remind Me. Whatever faults the cavemen commercials had, they had good taste in music. |

while my feelings for Royksopp are neutral, the actual video for that track is freaking great. here, for those who never saw it:

Okay, that IS amazing.
Haha, I like the not-so-subtle diagram of beer at the end of the workday. |
