My dad's cousin-in-law or something like that makes the most AMAAAAAZING ONE. I participate in Passover seders just so I can eat it.. and she makes this espresso whipped-cream-like thing that you put with it because it's too rich to eat plain.... AHH I NEED SOME RIGHT NOWWWW
(Why did you do this to me Mira?? aggghhh)

I adore those. You should try PF Chang's Flourless Chocolate Torte. It's worth the moral dilema you take on when you lie about your birthday.

i made one last night. it's my version of a bittersweet chocolate gateau which is probably my favorite cake to bake.

i think my sister took a picture, she does that a lot with my food. let me look.

here:

i love it. and i love my stand mixer when making it. actually, always. i love my stand mixer.

LILY!!! We must have some sort of strange connection. I made one yesterday too! It was absolutely delicious. I slaved away in the kitchen for hours. It was amazing. This is the recipe I used. My favorite part is where it says, "Be very careful not to overcook chocolate or it may burn and taste funny. Not funny ha-ha - funny strange."

i'm always a little wary of recipes that have you melt the chocolate directly over the heat but at least that one was funny.

in related news, i made another cake today. a different one though.

The first time I went to Europe, and was in a delicious French pastry shop was the first time I was introduced to this fabulous dessert! Flourless chocolate cake, and the designs they can do in proffessional European cafe's and what not are as delicious as they are beautiful to look at some of the creative designs. YUMMMMMMM.....

i just made a dessert that i guess could be classified as a flourless cake but it's really more of a mix between a chocolate souffle and a mousse. but it is cakey in part and has no flour.

it's a fondant type cake so it's served with the inside melty. the sauce is just a basic ganache sauce with a bit of sugar added. everyone should make them all the time. (maybe not, they're very rich)

That looks disgusting to me.
Then again, I dont really like chocolate. I used to be all up in that shit, yo.

But then something happened, and I just stopped really liking it.

Plus the look of a chocolate cake filled with/topped with chocolate icing/syrup looks especially disgusting to me.

But I'm sure it tastes excellent to people who like it.

Okay, for the record, I've just come to this thread for the first time and I am NEVER COMING BACK. Unless I have an entire cake of some nature in my hands. This thread is torture for the starving student.

So wait, it's a flourless chocolate cake filled with chocolate with chocolate syrup on top? Mmmmmmmmmm... something smells like an early death.

But seriously, that's amazing. The only thing that would make it better is chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips. And maybe a chocolate wafer or two on top. The Aztecs gods of yore will be pleased.

trust me, you don't want more chocolate. flourless chocolate cake is already rich and since this is more like a souffle it's even richer. with the dark sauce you absolutely do not want more chocolate. maybe for like a week.

HA! It must be all the love you feel being expressed thru delicious baked goods! Is Dave there yet? I need a sugarless-flourless cake.

btw: hot tea is my favorite drink but iced/sweet tea makes me sick to my stomach. strange.

I picked up a flourless piece of chocolate cake the other day that had almond roca candies placed in it, like literally stick out all over it like a porcupine.. It was delicious...

Actually it doesn't start until October, and I just finished a run with a magazine for a freelance project I had going on for sometime now. But my next venture is a move out of state, and to attend the Art Institute of Seattle. For Culinary education.
