yay! i have a friend in yosakoi with me who is supposed to give me one also, but she keeps forgetting. i told her she has to bake it for me and bring it to the meeting today, and she said no because it's too much effort, but she'd bake me a regular one. yay!

ahh that makes me happy! i love flourless chocolate cake and i'm sad i lost my recipe. we made it before we got our hand mixer, and it's such a labor of love to hand- whip egg whites. but it was sooo worth it.

oh yes, that is absolutely just letting gas into the air. if the pilot light is out and it doesn't immediately catch you really just need to light it or turn it off! but i'm sure you've learned that now!

and as for cooking rice you can do it a number of ways! i combine about two cups of water for every cup of rice in a pot with a nicely tight lid and let it simmer and absorb. simmering is little bubbles but the water soaks in pretty quickly. does that answer your question well enough?

Yes, thank you very much!! Very Happy

Confession: I really, really... Really hate chocolate anything.

Also: I tend to put fresh oregano in everything. everything.

I have a confession.

I think my family has figured out by now that if they put the ingredients to cookies or a cake out on the counter and leave it there, I'll get sick of it being there and make something.

I have a confession: Yesterday I willingly ate the mysterious broccoli casserole they were serving. It was warm, and it was food, so I ate it, but that was some kind of interesting meat they put in there.

i am very judgmental about food served to me when the people serving it are acting pretentious. it can be fairly good but i will be very harsh if it's expensive or the people believe it's good. but if someone served me some homemade horrible food i wouldn't judge it at all.

I feel the same way, but our definitions of "expensive" are very different, I fear.

- I prefer "American" pizza over the "real italian" stuff.

- Parsley is one of the worst foods/seasonings ever.

I love New York and Italy pizza equally, they are so different they can't be compared. But pizza from anywhere else in the states doesn't measure up to New York at all.

Fuck yeah!
I love being pretentious about my pizza.

I went through Penn last week but didn't have time to get any pizza! *sadness*

all the pizza i've ever had in new york has been good but not outstanding and i desperately want to understand what i'm missing out on!! then again, i use pizza as a base for fresh food combinations and that can happen anywhere. potato and rosemary pizza is amazing. or white clams! i'm hungry now!

where have you gone? I think that the famous New York Style pizza most people are familiar with is a little hyped up and overrated...especially places like Joe's, which I find to be just ok. There was a fantastic place near my old apartment that has since closed due to horrible location and another really great place to get a slice in Greenpoint (they arrange the toppings in beautiful overlapping layers)...damn, I could really go for some of that right now....

Not to mention a host of other places around town with old school coal ovens...argh...Some people will also point out Grimaldi's in Brooklyn Heights for the "gourmet" pizza but I found their crust a little bland and, aside from their cheeses (which are great), the toppings are only so so and have no real flavor of their own (on the day i went anyway).

i feel like i've gone on for too long about this endless debate so I'll just stop now.
