i'm sorry, i had to! i'm so bored since dave is at his internships!
AND TALKING ABOUT CHEFS IS THE BEST WAY TO STOP THE BOREDOM!
does anyone have any favorites? who do you respect for changing things or for doing an amazing job or for creating amazing menus?
or is it just me that cares about this stuff... |

this isn't exatly on topic (since I know nothing about chefs), but reminded me of a story:
i was at a yosakoi meeting the other day and we were bored so we were flipping through tv channels. someone stopped on the food network, and one girl said "hey look, it's Rachel Ray" and I made her change it specifically because you hate her. |

nora, that warms my heart very much.
and it would say it was totally on topic BUT SHE'S NOT A CHEF.
oh how i hate her. very very much. and it irks me so much that one of her shows is exactly what i wish i could do with my life but SHE HAS IT. bitch. |

I don't know much about individual chefs, but the trend of combining science and cooking into one glamorous entity really appeals to me. Especially when they do things like redefine how to boil eggs to perfection. |

Lily, that's awesome. It'll be like a personality test but instead of getting a personality type we get a personal favorite chef.
Also, I am looking those chefs up right now. Thanks. |

Aha, I've heard about Dufresne before. And yes, his stuff sounds pretty cool.
It's slightly mystifying that Robuchon's website is in Japanese. |

I'm looking at the wd~50 menu and it seems a little exotic for my humble suburban tongue...but I would love to try it. |

Yeah...the whole concept of molecular gastronomy really appeals to me. And it produces more delicious results than your typical chemistry lab. |

Heh. I first read about molecular gastronomy in Discover magazine. I'm waiting for when it stops being so much the province of high-end chefs and comes down into everyday kitchens. |

i'd say hidekazu tojo who is a chef in vancouver that i think is just tremendous. he's legendary for using all the fabulous fresh seafood we have around us and for creating amazing sushi combinations. he's hard to beat for asian food, in my opinion.

Every time I read any thread in this forum I get hungry. And all this talk of chef-ing makes me wish I could spend money with abandon and go sample the arts of everyone Lily keeps talking about.
Any good Italian food chefs around? |

there are a billion good italian chefs. a billion. mario batali is classic. and originally from seattle!
and trust me it's not spending money with abandon. i have to save all the money i don't spend on dave and my loans and my cell phone bill, etc for this. it''s all very careful. |

Argh, now I'm torn. It's either save money to go to Comicon someday...or save money to eat at wd~50 or some other high profile place. |

Food is good.
But I must restrain myself from eating right now or DDRing tomorrow will be rendered ineffective.
Still, wd~50 is now going on my list of things to do before I die. |
