Never.
I've never really been a big fan of having Hot Chocolate, except when at home anyways.
I've never got it at a coffee shop, or a friends house or anything.

Eeee, hot chocolate. One of my favorite drinks ever.

Hmm, I want to try mixing a bit of egg nog in. It'll be sweetness overload.

yeah, most people do. it's really only hard core hot chocolate people (and the french/italians) that differentiate. hot cocoa is hot milk or water with a little chocolate flavoring. hot chocolate leans heavily on the large amount or chocolate in it. and it's real chocolate, usually, not a cocoa powder. it makes it much smoother, much denser and much more delicious.

That's just wrong. Wouldn't that be cold chocolate? I prefer my chocolate hot, but I like my coffee-drinks cold. Never shall I have a cold chocolate drink that isn't chocolate milk.

How does the level of caffeine in hot cocoa and hot chocolate compare to that in coffee and tea? I'm supposed to avoid caffeine but I love hot cocoa/chocolate whatever. Now Lily has made me doubt whether I've ever actually had a cup of hot chocolate but I love hot cocoa.

well teas differ a lot but the caffeine in the chocolate (which is where it would come from) isn't a huge number. if you just eat pieces of chocolate then you're good to go. and hot cocoa will have very little, if any.

So when I get "hot chocolate" at the college kiosk or a place like Boston Coffee, is it actually hot chocolate or hot cocoa?
