I've only grabbed the free download so far (9 out of the 36 new tracks) and plan on getting the rest when I have money to spare for purchasing luxury items.
A shame they ran out of the $300 edition...I would have loved to own this on vinyl. I'm kind of surprised really -- I haven't given a shit about anything Trent Reznor has done after The Fragile (which, despite how my musical tastes have changed over the last 8-or-so years, I still regard as a near perfect album).
Basically, I am really glad to see him getting back to what (in my mind) made him so great in the first place without being (completely) redundant...some of it still sounds like scraps from the 1995-1997 era.
here's what the man himself had to say
"I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams. I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts."

I was skeptical at first because I like NIN to an extent - but only to an extent because some of his songs get boring after hearing them for awhile. But this album looks promising. I may just give it a look-see.
