Wow. The only ones I knew right away were the Cold War and the invasion of Kuwait.

That was really cool. Did it seem kind of Terry Gilliam-esque to anyone else?

are you familiar with Jan Svankmajer? If you aren't I suggest you check out his stuff. He was an incredibly inventive stop motion animator whose work influenced, well, pretty much everyone who came after him trying to do the same thing (Gilliam included). I was obsessed with this guy in college and highly recommend investigation on your own time. Keep in mind that a lot of his seminal stop motion work dates back to the mid 1960s-early 1980s.

Haha, wow. Took me several viewings to recognize the various foodstuffs and assign them to the correct country. I like how the French croissants just stood aside for the bratwurst...the French fries threw me off until I recognized Britain as 'fish and chips.' Had no idea what the stripy crackers were until I read the cheat sheet and realized it was matzo.

The use of sushi to represent the Japanese was pretty easy to recognize. Laughing

Okay, off to see the rest of the video.

****

The Cold War made me giggle.

Things got murkier with the Middle East stuff. And, what, the end message is that the cockroaches will survive the nuclear holocaust and eat us all?

That was an amazing video.

The only events I knew right away were 9/11, the Cold War, and WWII.

i liked it but i wished the colors were a little brighter. it made it hard to recognize kimchi, it looked more like bad pasta (speaking of pasta, where was our friend mussolini? okay, not our friend. whatever.). also, is it right to use french fries for two countries? when they're belgian anyway? and damn, i want a cuban sandwich so bad right now. so good so good so goooood!

i think i knew all of them right away (except when i got confused about belgium showing up) which just shows you that i spend way too much time looking at food and know exactly where gyoza come from.

I recognized the kimchi right away, too. The jaozi was easiest to identify, of course, considering that I just spent this weekend making a couple hundred of them. What I don't get is why the Chinese spring roll self-destructed. Was that a reference to the KMT-Communist civil war?

Clever stuff. I didn't know it was supposed to be about real battles until the 9/11 one. Then I read the "About this Video." Well done, too.
