A show played by the Golden Birds and A Day In Black And White.
It was really cool and the bands were totally friendly and everything.
Too bad there were only like 30-40 people.

The title of the thread is pretty generic so if you just saw a cool show post it here. But let's try and keep it pretty recent and don't go on reminiscing about how you saw that great band 2 years ago.

I saw The Books five days ago, I'll post my recording as soon as I rip it.

They featured both, but I only recorded audio. However, I recorded it through the board, so the sound is spectacular.

Minidisc, routed from the soundboard.

Here are two songs, for an example of the quality:

I went to a show last night: the Mountain Goats with Erik Friedlander and Shearwater.
It. Was. Awesome.
The only bad part was that I had to choose whether to buy a hand-painted LP or a shirt, because I didn't bring enough money for both (I went with the LP).

I'm thinking about going to the Mountain Goats tonight. I've seen him/them twice and it's 10 bucks and my friend has a party and whatever.

My sister's Alex tried to record the Weezer concert on his Ipod and made it all the way to the encore. Then he held up his ipod and they made him delete the songs. What an idiot.

Just to prove how bad the show was:

One of the bands was named "Suicide Squad".

The DBQ on the European History AP exam had to do with the EEC. It was weird because no one was expecting a question from that recently.

Yeah, the dollar blows, but fortunately, a weak dollar means an increased GDP because it encourages foreign countries to import our goods. Net exports effect. Augh. Fucking Econ AP on Thursday...

I went to a show last night. I went to see the Dramatics, an old favorite that I've seen probably 10 times. While I was at the show, the band before them, Sub-Motive, caught my attention and dragged me into a hopeless spiral of endless love. Essentially, they were the most amazing thing I have ever heard. They took me back to the glory days of classic rock. Everyone should check them out. www.purevolume.com/submotive. Plenty of songs on there you can listen to. They're all good, but I recommend Emotion Sickness and Colliding Minds.

wow, this hasn't been written in since last May.

While I missed out on Olde English in SF last night, I probably did the next best thing by seeing Broken Social Scene here in NY at Webster Hall. The venue is nice aside from feeling like the floor was going to cave in when everyone in the audience jumped en masse.

They played a pretty incredible 21 song set that ran from about 7:45pm to 10:30pm. I'm having a tough time finding the words that will do justice to what it felt like to see & hear 17 people playing Shampoo Suicide. And "Anthems..." actually sent an unexpected chill down my spine. Anyway, I won't bore you with the details beyond that but the lead vocalist did come into the audience and initiated a group hug with my girlfriend and I so that was amusing.

Right so if you live here and missed all 3 nights they played Webster Hall this past weekend you are a fool indeed.

I haven't been to a show in over a month, and it makes me cry. I almost went to a punk/hardcore concert at the tattoo parlor a few weeks back, but ended up just hanging out with some friends instead. Those concerts are pretty crazy intense, though. At the last couple some guys got hooks pierced into their backs and then chained themselves to each other and played tug-of-war. Sick, crazy bastards.

By the way, I heard a Mountain Goats song for the first time yesterday. It was the state meet for Speech and Debate and I was hanging out with this girl Aryn who is amazingly cool but I won't ever see again. She had "No Children" on her mp3 player, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I saw the Suburban Legends last Friday, good times. Dancing and singing and oh man. That was fun. Plus, Urban Achievers opened and those boys are awesome.

The Friday before that, I saw Tera Melos, Desa, and Street to Nowhere. That was an amazing show. Tera Melos is an incredible band that words can't even describe. Their c.d. doesn't even do their live show justice. They're kind of harcore/metal/jazz/freestyle/techno with no vocals. They're amazing.

Street to Nowhere is amazing too, but in a very different way. A slightly more traditional way. I love them.

I just saw Stars. They were incredible, and made my life by playing Elevator Love Letter as part of their encore.

Sounds kind of almost Mars Volta-ish? Except the part about the vocals, I guess.

I went and saw a couple local groups tonight. If you really want to know just how disturbingly emo they were, two were called "Too Late for Sympathy" and "Cut Shallow". However, to make up for it, there was "The Sharktopus," who were considerably better. I mostly ignore the music and just mosh anwyay, which is generally a damn good time. Except the fucking kids at this show didn't really understand the etiquette. I got knocked down at one point, which was a rare occurence but no big deal. But instead of helping me out like any intelligent group would do, the guys by me decided to keep pushing, and one ended up kicking me quite hard in the head. A bit of blood and ibuprofen later, I'm happy to report that I'm feeling just fine...

On Thursday night I saw Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and last night I saw New Pornographers and Belle and Sebastian. It was probably the best concert I've ever been to, Stuart Murdoch is an incredible performer and it was all very high energy and exciting. I'm sure most of the shows on this tour are sold out but if you can go-do.

Oh mn, oh man, oh man.
