So I don't really go to too many bigger shows these days. Usually just local stuff and whatnot, so I won't bother you with that.
However I just went to the mewithoutYou, Minus the Bear, Thursday show in Grand Rapids here the other day.
It was quite excellent. mewithoutYou was as elegant and energetic as usual. Those fellas have gotta be the nicest people I've ever met.
Minus the Bear was good. Nothing all that interesting to watch perform. Except their bassist whom I've decided is the most badass dude to ever walk the Earth. Apparently he used to be in a metal band so that might explain it.
Thursday was amazing as would be expected. However I feel like a tool writing about Thursday so I'll just say I am damn sore from this show.
If any of you ever get a chance to see mewithoutYou live, I highly recommend doing so. They are beyond excellent. They used to get trash bags of old flowers from flower stores in town and lay them all over the stage and dance around in it, but I've not seen them do it for years now. :\ Kind of a bummer.
But still excellent.

Oh man at Summerfest this year Skynyrd is going to be there. And Alice Cooper. And Flogging Molly. And ummm I don't remember who else but I'm pretty excited about it even though I'm prolly not going to see any of them. The only thing I am mad about is they have Creedence Clearwater REVISITED. Which is a really messed up band. I want Revival. Grr...

i saw reel big fish with mxpx and streetlight manifesto, whole wheat bread, and transition on saturday. it was amazing. i finally found a bunch of people who can dance to ska music, and get excited about horns. i also talked to the guys in streetlight manifesto afterwards because i didnt have a phone and they told me what time it was.

actually two nights ago, i saw dropkick murphys and they kicked ass. before them was madball, brain failure, and klasse kriminale.
now that means we saw italian punk, chinese punk, american hardcore, and then irish punk.
the best was when they announced future shows. ryan cabrera got quite the sarcastic ovation. it was hilarious.
if anyone is familiar with the dropkick murphys, you know they're a boston-based, red-sox-fan band, and their big chant is "let's go murphys! clap, clap, clap-clap-clap!". well then someone started the yankees suck chant, until eventually everyone was screaming "LETS GO MURPHYS YANKEES SUCK! LETS GO MURPHYS YANKEES SUCK!" it was the craziest chant i've ever heard.
edit: brain failure opened a song with "WE'RE BRAIN FAILURE, AND WE CAME HERE FROM F*CKING BEIJING, CHINA!" they then sang a song called "B-E-I! J-I-N-G!" they also sang a song that went "going to america! touring! touring!"

I saw The Subways in Portland a few weeks ago. They were so silly and adorably British. I got autographs, but only because CDs were cheap and the bass player was a hottie. And then March Fourth Marching Band played (Seattle folks might know of them, they're from Portland but travel around a lot). They are insayayayayane. So many crazy costumes and stilts and strippers and fire and jugglers and exciting things. Portland is such a freakshow, I love it.

Well this wasn't as much last night as it was this afternoon. About 1-ish during the time i should've been in physics. Instead I went to see Shinedown play 2 songs at a local record store before their big show tonight that I didn't go to. It was just the singer and guitarist on acoustic but they were pretty good. Afterward they stayed for a half an hour and signed everybody's stuff, as you can see. They all seemed like really cool guys.
Apparently it was really dark in there and these next two show it. I'll take underexposed over blurry anyday.
(FYI don't ever give your baby to a band. I think they just signed his shirt but still.)
Just thought I'd throw this one in there for the hell of it (pun intended). Yeah right, like I care.

ok. friday we say JURASSIC 5 at the house of blues. it was so fucking awesome. (for those that dont know, J5 is a crazy like underground rap/hip hop fucking amazing whatever.)
we were dancing all night. shiiit son.
but my friend and i got hit on by some crazy guy in front of us. he like grabbed us and started dancing. plus he was WASTED.
shit dude. then later were seeing THE ISLANDS again.
and at the end of october is LADYTRON. im so excited. i might just piss my pants.
Um, J5 really isn't underground anymore/for the past 5 years. However, they do kick an immense amount of ass, so you are excused. I have to say that I like their older music better than the newest CD, but it's still good stuff. Lucky you.
