I’m a math teacher in real life. This was hilarious. I’ll be showing this to my students. (Unfortunately, I teach middle school, so they won’t get most of it. Oh well. They can laugh at me, laughing at this.)
in the thing with the sketch rules, dave asks if 5 is a constant, and ben says its not. 5 is actually a constant. A constant is a # that stays the same and isnt a varialble (x, b,y).
first post (possibly ever) that isnt saying how good the video is!
i understand how bill evans’ intro to ’round midnight fit the mood you were trying to set - out of context it _is_ a little spooky sounding - but for those familiar with the tune (myself included) the expectation of that which normally follows makes it more of a stretch, i.e., i expect a gorgeously beautiful moment to follow. in the end though, i doubt anyone is listening to the drivel which pours forth from my keyboard… does that make this a conversation with myself?
Was her date with -1 and then she squarerooted it to kill him?
If so that is freaking funny.
That and:
“Your only 2.7 you could stand to put a little meat on those bones.”
“I’m not comfortable with you rounding me to the nearest tenth…”
Hey guys, I’m a huge fan of all of your work, but this one is by far my favorite. Maybe it’s the inner math dork, who knows, but it made me laugh. Too bad when I showed it to my friends they just gave me an awkward look :(

The math geek inside of me is in love with this sketch.
2.728 and 3.14159, sitting in a tree
s-q-u-a-r-e root!
First comes division, then comes adding
Then comes an irrational number…
Ok, I’ll stop.

Has my vote for worst sketch. And it’s still pretty good

Man, I’m in precalculus and all of my (stupid) friends dont understand how good this sketch is. Or how everything corresponds and makes sense.

For some reason, I kept thinking about them hooking up into Euler’s identity.
God, I’m a dork

Probably the most narrowly targeted humor ever. Good show.

When e says “you don’t even exist” she should say “you’re not even real.” Otherwise funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.

is anyone else turned on by pi. I guess I just have a thing for greeks.
March 9th, 2007 at 6:45 pm
omg Dork … I was thinking exactly the same thing
April 13th, 2007 at 10:20 pm
The ONE thing that I don’t understand about this video is why they laugh hysterically when Pi goes “Good things I hope!”
Other than that… THIS VIDEO IS LITERALLY AMAZING. It’s witty and hilarious and I keep watching it over and over again.
I do plan on burning it to a disc and giving it to my Algebra II teacher one of these days…
Great work.

This is a sick, incestuous video. Why is e going on a date with pi when they’re related?

I love how the icon is from “The Life of Pi.”
…and everything everybody else said.
